Salem - Albert Lee Benjamin, 84, of Salem, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Salem Township Hospital in Salem, Illinois.

Albert was born on January 29, 1941, in Boyd, Illinois, the son of Carol and Bernice (Hopkins) Benjamin.

Survivors include his sons, Kalin Benjamin and wife Rachel of Salem, Ron Dedrick and wife Michelle of Kentucky; granddaughters, Kale and Kenna Benjamin both of Salem; grandson, Reece Hooker of Clinton; brother, Richard Hopkins and wife Kelly of Salem; four sisters; several nieces and nephews; along with dear friends, Bill and Debby Hammond of Salem, and Mike and Nancy Bond of Mt. Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Albert honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. After his service, Albert worked for several years as a school teacher in public schools and would later work as a teacher in the Illinois Department of Corrections. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Funeral services for Albert Lee Benjamin will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem, with Trent Ice officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery in Salem. There will be a time of visitation from noon until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
